I can't believe it, but on Monday (June 9th) I am going to turn 19!!! I got the idea for this post from all of those people who write out the great events that happened to them in whatever year it was. So this is mine, a look back in time to the year that I was 18 (even though I'm still 18 as I post this).
5 Fabulous things:
1- I bought my very own car. In July last summer, I bought a 2004 Saturn Vue. At the time, I thought I was getting a pretty sweet deal, but since then I have already had to put in a new transmission and I`m just not so sure that I trust it to get me to school and back.
2 - I went to school!! College, WHOA!!! Just another step in the process, but college was a HUGE step and I can't believe I actually started (and finished) my first year already. It was definetley a learning experience and I was really unsure at first, but I know that I made the right decision for myself. I made some amazing friends and did some really neat things!
3 - Zach and I celebrated 2 years together! Now we'rejust shy of9 2 and a half, but it has been a wonderful adventure with him. Always interesting, mind you, but he (and Sarah) was a huge part of my support system as I jolted into college life.
4 - I FINIHED my first year of school! My college has a 50% graduation rate, so during orientation they told us to remember that one out of every pair of students will NOT graduate from Mines. On top of that they did a "look left, look right. And know that between the three of you only two are likely to return next year" scare thing. So finishing strong (NOT PERFECT) meant a lot to me. And knowing that I'm going back next year is all the more encouraging because of it.
5 - I started my nannying job. I'm only a few weeks in, but so far these kids have made me ENJOY the summer like a child. Although I am incharge (sometimes), the kidsremind me what summer is all about.
5 not so hot things:
1 - I moved 350+ miles from home, and got homesick because of it. I couldn't believe that I missed home so much, but I did and it sucked. College was an amazing adventure, but also a difficult one. It made me branch out and try things I can't imagine doing before.
2 - Transmission in my car broke. Not even 6 months after I bought the car. This STILL makes me mad.
3 - My Uncle Craig passed away. Never an easy thing to go through, he will be missed greatly.
4 - I didn't do quite so hot in college. Definatley not something I want to experience ever again. Read more about it here.
5 - READJUSTING. I did not realize what I had grown acoustomed to in college, and moving back home wasn't nearly as smooth or comfortable as I had imagined it being at the begning of the year. Nonetheless, it's good to be back.
I know what you're thinking: "wow, this girl has a really lame life," but this is my life and I do love it. There are thousands of things I did this last year that I really enjoyed, but I only had room for a handful. Besides, who wants to read a textbook about my life, I know that I, for one, have MUCH better things to do.
What are some of your fondest memories of the past year? Not so fond? BEST and WORSE. Post below!
